The NS (Name Server) records of a domain name show which DNS servers are authoritative for its zone. In simple terms, the zone is the selection of all records for the domain name, so when you open a URL within an Internet browser, your computer asks the DNS servers worldwide where the domain name is hosted and from which servers the DNS records for the domain should be retrieved. That way a browser finds out what the A or AAAA record of the domain is so that the latter is mapped to an Internet protocol address and the website content is requested from the proper location, a mail relay server detects which server manages the e-mails for the domain name (MX record) to ensure a message can be delivered to the appropriate mailbox, etc. Any change of these sub-records is done through the company whose name servers are used, enabling you to keep the web hosting and change only your email provider for example. Each domain has a minimum of two NS records - primary and secondary, which start with a prefix such as NS or DNS.

NS Records in Cloud Hosting

If you use a cloud hosting plan from our company and you register a new domain inside the account or transfer an existing one from a different provider, you will be able to control its NS records with ease using the Hepsia hosting CP, provided with all shared accounts. You'll be able to change the current name servers or enter additional ones for a single domain name or even for several domain addresses at once with several clicks. This is done using the feature-rich Domain Manager tool that is a part of Hepsia and the user-friendly interface is going to make it easy to manage your domain even if it's the first you've ever registered. It takes merely a mouse click to see what name servers a domain uses at the moment or if they're the correct ones to direct a domain to the hosting space on our end and with a few clicks more you'll even be able to register private name servers for each of the domains that you own. For the latter option you can use the IPs of every company that you would like the new NS records to forward to.

NS Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

Our semi-dedicated server accounts are handled using Hepsia - an all-in-one tool with extremely user-friendly interface, which will help you manage your domains effortlessly even if you haven't used a web hosting account or a domain address up to now. Changing the NS records for any domain name registered through our company, viewing the current ones and whether they are correct or not as to direct that domain name to our cloud hosting platform is also quite easy and requires as little as a couple of mouse clicks. You will also be able to register child name servers under any of your domain addresses as a part of the free DNS control services which we offer with each and every plan and have ns1.your-domain.com and ns2.your-domain.com. The latter can be used for every domain address which you accommodate inside the semi-dedicated account, so if you offer services to third-parties and host their websites, employing this feature is going to give you much more credibility as a business.
