An Operating System is the software that interacts with the hardware of a computer system and functions as the intermediary between apps and the hardware, including peripheral devices such as a printer, a computer mouse or a keyboard. When you run an application, it transmits requests to the OS using an API (Application Program Interface) and the communication is done through a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI). Similar to a personal computer, hosting servers also use an Operating System that functions as a host for all of the software installed on them, which includes script apps or server-side software such as a flash server, a VOIP server, and so on. A virtual machine can be created on a physical one, so you will be able to install a guest OS on it and have a different system environment in contrast to the physical server host OS.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

We provide three different Linux releases for the Operating System of our VPS servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are among the safest and the most reliable OSs out there and we offer all three of them instead of only one because we realize that you may want to set up some software with specific requirements for the Operating System it'll run on. The latter is because each of the three Operating Systems has a vast support community behind it and there are various software applications you can install on the hosting server. Your OS selection will also determine exactly what hosting Control Panel can be installed on the VPS if you wish to use one and for that reason we offer multiple Control Panels as well. In the event you decide that you need another OS, our tech support team can quickly wipe the existing one and install the one that you need. We also offer an optional service to have the OS on your VPS updated weekly.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

If you decide to get one of our dedicated servers, you will find three Operating Systems on the registration page as we want to give you a broader choice regarding the system environment on the server as different applications could have particular requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian contain different modules developed by their large support communities, so you can select any of these OSs and take advantage of a stable and secure Internet hosting service. Based on your choice, you will also have different Control Panels to choose from. Needless to say, we can always replace the Operating System in case the one you have selected initially does not meet the requirements of the software which you'd like to run. We can also update your OS regularly to keep it as secure as possible using our Managed Services upgrade package.
